What is missing in virtually all cases are the words “SOME OF…”. Elections – even when politicians claim a mandate – are 48% to 52%, or 53% to 47% or some variation. The American Insurrection against British Rule is an example. The ‘American People’ did not seek independence – SOME OF the American people did. Some were loyal to Britain and some wanted to stay out of the turmoil. It is just as ridiculous to make reference to how the French people, the Germans, the Kenyans feel about any topic. An even sadder fact is that many of the people who feel this way or that way, do not base their opinions on an educated viewpoint.
