Not really – they are a panel of your fellow citizens who come to work with their own life’s experiences and biases and make rulings by consensus. That is why you have 5-4 rulings occasionally and why a Justice writes a majority opinion and a Justice representing the members whose opinions differ from the majority opinion writes a response. One could argue that the members of the Supreme Court understand the constitution and the local jury may not – but the justices frequently interpret the constitution differently as might the members of your local jury. Perhaps a more accurate name may be The Supreme Jury.
