I love See’s Candy and it is one of my favorite gift items for real estate clients and personnel at escrow companies and planning departments.

Pat Egan, president and CEO of 102-year old See’s Candies, based in South San Francisco is reported to have said in the past that he ”attributes the company’s longevity to its in-shop experience, which he calls “unmatched.”  The staff is excellent and the stores are always stocked, clearly marked and spotless. Nuts and Chews are sold in 1 lb/16 oz boxes for $29.00 – This is the authentic See’s Store Experience locally

When a relative recently told me that Safeway stores were selling See’s Candies and then brought me a box. I was shocked to see that the box was actually an 11 oz box of Nuts and Chews – a size that was not available at an actual See’s store. I then went to the local Safeway store and saw a pathetic display that had prices marked (no product on the shelf) at $27.99 – 30% less candy for a $1.01 SAVINGS, in a smaller box apparently designed to look like the real thing. Employees at the company store were not even aware that ‘See’s Candies were available across the parking lot at Safeway which was suspicious.

IS THE TOP BOX REAL SEE’S CANDIES SOLD AT THE SAFEWAY STORE?  Time will tell.
